Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026. This document is a working draft; we'll refine it as the club grows.
WTVR THE WTHR RUN CLUB ("WTWRC," "we," "us") is based in San Francisco, California. This policy explains what information we collect from members and visitors of runwtw.com, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
When you create a member account we collect your name and email address. When you book a run on our event partner Luma, we receive your RSVP, the event you booked, and the email you used to RSVP. When you attend a run, we record your attendance. We do not currently collect payment information; if and when we add paid memberships, payments will be processed by Stripe, which collects card details directly (we never see or store them).
Our website is hosted on Shopify, which automatically logs standard request data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and analytics. See Shopify's privacy policy for details.
How we use it
- Confirm your RSVP and remind you about upcoming runs
- Track attendance so we can recognize regulars and improve the experience
- Send occasional club updates and announcements you've opted into
- Respond to questions you send us
We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not use it for advertising.
Third-party services we use
- Shopify: hosts the website, stores customer accounts, and handles email sign-in. Receives: name, email, account activity, attendance tags.
- Luma (lu.ma): powers our event calendar and RSVPs. Receives: name, email, and RSVP history for events you sign up for.
- Vercel: runs our backend serverless functions (RSVP webhook, staff check-in). Receives: server request logs, the email address tied to an RSVP at the moment a webhook fires.
- Stripe (future, for paid tiers): processes payments. Receives: name, email, billing address, and payment method, collected directly by Stripe.
Each of these providers handles your data under its own privacy policy: Shopify, Luma, Vercel, and Stripe.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies for essential functionality (keeping you signed in) and to remember preferences. Shopify may set additional cookies for security. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account at any time by emailing contact@runwtw.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Where we hold data with sub-processors (Shopify, Luma, Vercel), we'll coordinate deletion with them on your behalf.
If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA / CPRA, including the right to know what we collect about you, request deletion, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we don't do either, but the right exists).
Children
Membership is intended for runners 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe we've collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we'll delete it.
How we protect your data
We limit access to your information to organizers who need it to run the club, and we rely on established providers (Shopify, Luma, Vercel, Stripe) that maintain industry-standard security and encryption in transit. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data and will notify affected members if we become aware of a breach involving personal information.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as you're an active member. If you delete your account, we delete your account record from Shopify and instruct Luma to delete your registration history within 30 days. Aggregate, anonymous attendance counts may be kept longer for club planning. We retain anything required for legal or financial recordkeeping (e.g., payment records, if and when we go paid) for as long as the law requires.
Changes
We may update this policy as the club grows. We'll post the new version here and update the date above. Material changes will be announced to members by email.
