Code of Conduct
Last updated: June 10, 2026.
WTVR THE WTHR RUN CLUB ("WTWRC," "we," "us") is a community built on movement, connection, and respect. Whether it's your first run or your five-hundredth, you belong here. When you join a run, an event, or any WTWRC space, online or in person, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct so that everyone feels safe and welcome.
Respect everyone
We welcome runners of every pace, body, age, and ability, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion or creed, veteran status, athletic background, or experience level. Treat fellow members, organizers, volunteers, and the public with genuine kindness. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and hostile behavior have no place here, and neither do the subtler harms. Backhanded comments and microaggressions cause real damage even when none was intended, and we take them just as seriously.
No runner left behind
This is not a race. We move together, look out for one another, and circle back for anyone who falls behind. If you're unsure where to go, ask. If you see someone struggling or alone, check in.
Follow organizer direction
Run leaders set the route, pace groups, stops, and any safety calls. Please follow their instructions during runs. They're there to keep everyone safe and the group together.
Run safely
- Obey all traffic signals and crosswalks. Stop at red lights, every time.
- Stay aware of cars, cyclists, scooters, and pedestrians. Don't run with headphones at a volume that blocks your surroundings.
- Run single-file or two-abreast on busy paths, and follow your leader's route and pace guidance.
- Come prepared for the conditions, with appropriate gear, water, and weather-appropriate clothing.
- Know your limits. Listen to your body, and don't push through pain or injury.
Look out for the community
Share the road, sidewalks, and trails courteously with pedestrians, cyclists, and residents. Keep noise reasonable in neighborhoods, pack out your trash (including gel wrappers and bottle caps), and leave every space better than we found it.
Zero tolerance for harassment
Harassment includes unwelcome comments, unwanted physical contact, sexual advances, stalking, photographing or recording someone without their consent, and any sustained disruption of a run or event. Respect personal boundaries. If someone isn't interested in your romantic or social attention, take that as final the first time, whether it comes as a polite no, a change of subject, or simply being left on read. Keep things sportsmanlike; there's no room for taunting, intimidation, or trying to embarrass anyone. Anyone asked to stop a behavior is expected to do so immediately.
Keep our online spaces healthy
Our group chats, comment threads, and social feeds are part of the club, and the same respect applies there as on the road. Disagreement is fine, but derogatory remarks and personal attacks are not. Know when a conversation has stopped being productive and let it rest. Not every point needs the last word.
Keep it legal and sober
No illegal substances at runs. If you show up impaired in a way that affects safety, you'll be asked to sit it out.
Photos and social media
We sometimes take photos and video at runs for our website and social media. By participating, you grant us permission to use your likeness in club-related materials. If you'd prefer not to appear, let an organizer know at the run and we'll respect that. Be mindful when tagging or sharing images of others, and never post anyone's personal information without permission.
Show up when you sign up
When you RSVP to a run or event, the group plans around you, from pacing and routes to reservations and a head count. Please come when you've signed up, and if your plans change, cancel your RSVP or give an organizer a heads-up at least 24 hours ahead so your spot can open for someone else.
Respect our partners
From time to time we team up with local shops, studios, and brands to offer members perks and discounts. These are for WTWRC members only, so please don't pass them along to non-members, and follow each partner's own terms when you use them. Treat our partners and their staff with the same courtesy you'd show a fellow runner.
Your health is your responsibility
Running is strenuous. Make sure you're healthy enough to run, and consult a physician if you're unsure. WTWRC does not provide medical screening or supervision and is not responsible for injuries, illness, or lost or damaged property. In an emergency, alert a run leader and call 911 immediately. (For the full liability waiver and assumption of risk, see our Terms of Service.)
Be a good ambassador
When you wear WTWRC or run with us, you represent the whole community. Show up with good energy, encourage newcomers, and help make every run something people want to return to.
Reporting concerns
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please tell an organizer at the run or email contact@runwtw.com. If you ever feel in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement or call 911 first. Your safety comes before any club process. Where you can do so safely, it's okay to tell someone directly that their behavior is unwelcome, but you're never obligated to confront anyone. Reports are handled confidentially. If your concern involves an organizer, or you'd rather not raise it with the organizer present, email contact@runwtw.com directly and it will be reviewed by someone other than the person involved; concerns about club leadership are escalated to the club's founder. We aim to acknowledge reports within three days and to follow up as we look into them. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Enforcement
We reserve the right to address violations as we see fit. Depending on what happened, that can range from a quiet word or a formal warning, to being asked to leave a run or event, to a temporary suspension, up to permanent removal from the club. Our goal is always to protect the safety and well-being of the community.
Thank you for helping keep WTWRC a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place to move. We'll see you out there.
